Description

Heavy duty crimping tool for fitting cylindrical copper tube, open ended and butt splice terminals to cables with a conductor cross-sectional area of up to 120mm2.

This sturdy yet compact tool is made from solid steel and has a hardened, sprung-loaded punch which holds the terminals securely against the die so that you have both hands free. The punch can then be either hit with a hammer or compressed in a vice to form the crimp.

This tool is great, low-cost option if you are planning on doing only a few crimps and want a solid, secure termination without having to invest in a professional hexagon crimper.

Sold individually.

Specification

  • Terminal size: 120mm² max.
  • Material: Steel frame with hardened steel punch
  • Weight: 700g
  • Overall height: 100mm

Tough little crimper

For a few good solid crimps this little fella is spot on. Give it a sharp tap with a lump hammer or use a vice for more control. This will last years and come in time again.

Spring loaded criping tool

Bought this to put crimps on 25mm and 70mm cable (cable cutter, crimps and cable all from 12v Planet) and the whole thing went with no problems at all. I used an arbor press which made light work of forming the crimp. Perfect.

Excellent!

I had never crimped large battery cables before & this tool gave me an economical method of doing so. I watched the 12V Planet video on crimping & then the whole process went smoothly. I used a large vice in my local friendly garage but could have used a mallet instead. Job done! Highly recommended!

Best alternative to a specialised tool

Needed to replace a worn starter cable terminal in our boat, but didn't want to buy a more expensive crimping tool just for this one job. This was the best alternative solution, and it worked just fine. All you need is a hammer and a halfway stable surface to put the tool on.

An excellent piece of kit.

Having purchased a roll of solder and a blowtorch, as I could not justify an expensive crimping tool and nobody locally had one for hire, I though I was in for a big job. However, I noticed this tool and it looked like it would do the job for a reasonable cost. It did so very well.
A good solid crimp on very heavy cable would be difficult to do without the support provided by the back mould and the spring loaded punch. I used 50 mm sq cable and found that a lump hammer, a concrete floor and a piece of wood to keep the cable level, was all I needed. Recommended.
